Just returned from a one day 550 mile round trip to the Lance Camper Service Center in Lancaster, California. I had them install two (2) 180 watt (360 watt total) Grape Solar panels on my Lance 2385 travel trailer. I wanted the Lance Camper Service Center to install the solar panels because it involved drilling holes in my roof. They have the schematic drawings of my travel trailer and know where to drill the holes to avoid wiring and to prevent roof leaks. Lance did a very professional installation. Great Service. I made the trip with my friend Paul that is a Master Electrician. Now that the solar panels are installed, Paul will finish the solar wiring. This includes installing a controller, 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter, circuit breakers, fuses and connections to two (2) 6 volt AGM golf cart batteries. Paul is designing the solar system to provide power for all electrical components in my trailer that includes:
- 24″ Smart TV and Jensen Stereo
- All LED interior and outdoor lighting
- Computer and cell phone rechargers
- Food blender
- Water Pump
- Air Compressor
- Electric Slide Out
- Ceiling fan
The only thing this solar system will not power is the air conditioning. However, I am not planning on being in climates where air conditioning is needed. If so, can always check into a RV Park and use their electrical power. The solar installation will enable me to go off grid Boondocking, see many beautiful places and still have the conveniences electrical power can provide.
As a footnote, while waiting for the solar panels to be installed, Paul and I went to the Exotic Feline’s Breeding Compound Feline Conservation Center cathouse-fcc.org (aka Cat House) in nearby Rosamond, California. They have an incredible collection of tigers, lions and cats from all over the world. One of my favorites was “Doc” a Black Jaguar. They do an incredible job rescuing cats from all over the world. Worth your time to check it out if you are in the neighborhood.
